Tugboat Style Roof Combing

A well done tugboat roof is a thing of beauty. An ugly one is . . . well, really ugly. I built this by laminating two 3mm layers of okume marine ply in the front and blending it with 6mm for the sides and aft combing. I started with a 16”x96” strip and temporarily anchored it with screws while I coaxed it around the 5” radius with a heat gun, a wet cloth and clamps. It was removed, trimmed to size and glued with screws and fender washers. The next day I repeated the process and laminated the next layer down. After the sides and aft section were added, I studied it from every angle for a few days, scribed lines with flexible battens and planed it down to the final line. (See top photo). I have some fiberglass tubes that I will add in the corners behind the combing to act as scuppers for the cabin top.
