My newest favorite tool

It is not a macho power tool, but is amazing in its own right. I purchased this 6’ Werner heavy duty fiberglass double step ladder at a contractors supply house. It is the perfect height to step onto the deck or cuddy cabin. And I can stand with one foot on each side of the ladder. Being able to straddle both sides makes a very stable work platform while working on the pilot house. And due to my lack of space, going up one side and down the other has it advantages as well.

So the next step is lots of fillets on the pilot house house joints, inside and out. Nothing that time and sanding won’t fix. After that, fair and glass the top and add the combing. Since I drip a lot of epoxy, I will wait until the top is complete before I glass the cuddy, anchor well, and deck.

The Road Runner trailer should be ready for pickup next weekend (Vancouver, Canada) and then there is a  two-day dog show the weekend following. (there is also a Dog Blog on my website) So with those weekends committed, the boat will sit until the end of July.

This weekend marks the 3rd anniversary of starting this project on July 4th, 2005. I am wisely not predicting the completion date but the goal is to have constant  progress, have fun, exercise craftsmanship, and not disrupt my family life by living in the boat shop.
What a difference a ladder can make
