An Unexpected Delay

Well, the winter weather sure did shut down the boat building for the season. A wind storm blew in and sent the top half a my neighbor’s white pine over the boat and garage and into my house (kitchen roof), also crushing the patio shop and damaging my new deck. So now the project for the winter is a new patio, new roof, deck repairs, and tree removal. Insurance is a good thing as this tree was a $14,000 event. This took quite a few months to resolve as there were thousands of others in Portland with similar problems from the same storm, all competing for contractors and roofers. And good roofers don’t replace roofs in the Portland winter rain. (For some reason I just happen to have some left over scraps of marine plywood that I used as patches plus the usual blue tarp)
