The Shelves (Sheer Clamps)

By now the garage doors have been removed.
The building jig was built using 20" 2x10s. It was temporarily covered with three sheets of birch plywood, so it could double as a portable lofting surface and gluing surface for scarfing the plywood. The jig has a set of 6 casters and a set of bolts in the corners for leveling when the hull is actually built. Shown on the jig are the shelves being laminated from two layers of 5/8" Superply for a final thickness of 1.25". Note that stringers are being used to support one of the shelves in this tight space.

The shelf laminations were brought out to the driveway after the shape was transfered from the lofting surface on the building jig. These were cut with a Skillsaw and "fine tuned" with a belt sander. I glassed 2 surfaces with 6 oz. glass while I still had some elbow room.
